Non-Frequent Round-Up

As I am sure you have noticed, my bi-monthly round-ups have become some what more monthly and even less frequent. With so much going on lately I battle to find the time to post frequent round-ups, as well as quality posts. So apologies for the lack of quality around here lately. Over the next week things should start calming down and I will get back to bringing you quality content.

Cerebra & 27 Dinner
As some of you know I am know part of Cerebra. I am fortunate to be surrounded by some of South Africa’s top minds in the online industry. The 27 Dinner will be happening this Sunday, more details here. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Paul De Sousa & Kinetiq
Paul De Sousa, owner of Kinetiq, a friend of mine has started blogging again over the at The Times. He works with Colin Daniels, the one I envy. He has a great introductory post to Google’s PageRank and he will be attending the 27 Dinner.

Exams & Student Sale
Yip, during the course of May I have been writing a few exams through Unisa for my BComm. That has been keeping me pretty busy. Student Sale is actually being used, so I am over the moon about that. I have a few plans that are in motion for it and I hope they will all work out.

AmaTags & Link Blog
Last week sometime I released a plugin for Amatomu, Afrigator and Muti. Stii has done a great job of fixing it up and releasing a better version of AmaTags. This week I started a link blog which allows me to share interesting articles from my Google Reader. The widget is on the left hand side menu.

Well, I guess it’s time for to get back to studying and looking for sites to rant and rave about. If you know of or have any sites you would like me to take a look at then please feel free to contact me.

Disclaimer: I receive a number of requests daily to review sites, which I do not always choose to review. I however always keep an eye on these sites and when they warrant a review I review them. I love seeing new sites and services come about, so please keep sending them.

Bi-Monthly Round-Up (April 15th)

I was very busy and completely forgot to post my round-up for the 31st of March, so I will include it all in this post. I haven’t been too busy. I have almost mastered the art of time management with the help of Ta-da Lists from the guys at 37 Signals.

Mike Stopforth & 27 Dinner
I finally met one of the men behind Afrigator, Mike Stopforth. We spoke some random crap, nothing of interest. I guess I can take this opportunity to thank him for lunch and an honorable mention.

I also met some of the faces behind a lot of South African blogs, read about that over here. The 27 Dinners are a must attend for all geeks, marketers, media persons and entrepreneurs.

IOL Technology and BizCommunity
I now contribute to IOL Technology and BizCommunity. This reminds me, I really need to finish off a few drafts for Global Voices, who recently re-designed their site.

Student Sale beta
Student Sale is currently going through a private beta testing phase and will be more than ready on the 1st of May. I am really getting excited about this, I have a lot planned for the site in the coming weeks and months. All will be revealed in due time.

My First Podcast
I finally did my first podcast. Thank you for all the positive feedback! All comments have been taken into account and there are big plans for the podcast, all will be revealed in the next episode. Once again, a very special thank you to Gregor for his help. And another thank you to Victoire for her compliments.

That is all I can remember, just a shout out to all the Rhodes University students who attended graduation. Congratulations to Vincent Maher who has become a father. Lastly thanks to Paul Stamatiou for hooking me up with my twitter status plugin (see right).

Take Care
Ciao

Bi-Monthly Round-Up (March 16th)

We are now half way through March, which has been rather busy so far. I have decided to start doing a bi-monthly round-up which will happen more or less at the middle of each month and at the end of each month. So here is my first round-up.

My Genius & Doug Timberlake
A shout out goes out to Doug Timberlake from My Genius who I had the pleasure of meeting last week Wednesday (7th of March). We discussed quite a lot and all I can say is you will see a lot coming from My Genius in the future. [more on My Genius]

IOL Technology & Ian Gilfillan
A very big thank you to Ian Gilfillan and IOL Technology for featuring my video sharing comparison on IOL Technology.

Dave Duarte, Mike Stopforth & Amplitude
I would also like to thank Dave Duarte and Mike Stopforth for mentioning me on their podcast Amplitude, in episode 8 and episode 9.

Global Voices Online & Ndesanjo Macha
I would really like to thank Ndesanjo Macha for getting me involved with Global Voices Online for which now I am an official author. My first article is due out on Sunday (18th of March). I will be posting more about Global Voices Online within the next few days.

SA Blog Search
I announced my attempt at a South African blog search engine, powered by Google. SA Blog Search.

I would also like to wish Vinny Lingham all the best for the up and coming launch in June of SynthaSite, you can read more about this on his blog.

I have officially switched from Buxfer to Money Trackin’ for the simple reason that Buxfer is more for expense tracking and didn’t allow me to track my income as well. So far I am very impressed with Money Trackin’.

That seems to be it for now. I am very busy with getting Student Sale ready for the beta testing which is due to start on the 1st of April. The next round-up should be even more packed and interesting as I have a lot lined up for the next few weeks. So until then, take care.
