The Idea Virus

I just love the debate my post, Your Ideas, Others Cash In, has caused. I really enjoyed reading the opinions and insights of those who took the time to respond.

I am all for sharing and collaborating on ideas. We can’t all do everything ourselves. I also agree that ideas can stem from other influences and resources but that doesn’t mean an idea can’t be unique. Simply put, share and collaborate and give credit where credit is due.

Others opinions and insights:
Stefano Sessa – Your ideas are worthless!
Uno De Waal – Product: Sharing your ideas
Michael Chadbourne – Ownership of Ideas
Allan Kent – Ideas…
Nic Haralambous – Your idea, My idea, why’s everyone so paranoid?

So if you have an idea, hopefully these opinions and insights can help you and guide you. Share and collaborate or go it alone. The choice is yours. Below is a quote from Seth Godin, which you can find in his book IdeaVirus.

Why should we care? Why does it matter that ideas can instantly cross international boundaries, change discussions about politics, crime and justice or even get us to buy something? Because the currency of our future is ideas, and the ideavirus mechanism is the way those ideas propagate. And the science and art of creating ideaviruses and using them for profit is new and powerful. You don’t have to wait for an ideavirus to happen organically or accidentally. You can plan for it and optimize for it and make it happen.
