27 Dinner – Geeks Without Power

Last night was the 15th 27 Dinner and it was one I will never forget. I went to pick up my colleague and buddy Devon and his girlfriend then headed off to Primi Piatti in Melrose Arch, the venue for this months 27 Dinner.

I was really excited to see the launch of Afrigator beta and meeting some new bloggers and followers on Twitter. The power went out at around 7pm and we were left without power for roughly an hour or two. It really put a damper on the evening as some people decided to leave. The candles lit up the venue while we had no power and the sound of plates and glasses breaking randomly was quite amusing.

It was really good to see some familiar faces. I spent most of the night at rather large table with Armand, Beverley, Simone, Devon, Eve and Charl, who posed with me in the photo below in our Cerebra schwag.

I had a really great chat to Stii about Afrigator and it was really great to finally meeting him (and Beverley). I felt like a mini-celebrity when Simone introduced me to quite a few people. I think thats the best part of the 27 Dinner, meeting new people.

I think the highlight of the evening was definitely the presentation by Justin about the new Afrigator beta. I will play with it during the week and comment on it, but I think they have made great progress and it is one amazing product. Thanks to Deshanta and the rest of Cerebra for organising the event, it was a real success. I can’t wait for the next one.

  1. Dude, you are a celebrity

  2. I have checked out Afrigator beta and its cool man! Seems like your popularity preceedes you.
    Cheers

  3. It was just one of those things: as I was chatting to the various people who were new to 27dinner, they mentioned they were wanting to meet you and voila! :)

  4. It was only my pleasure, Tyler – socializing is just one of the perks you get when working for a social media company. Dude, we must hook up for a chat more regularly and I expect that’ll happen more often next year anyway. I like what’s brewing you your pot for 2008 and good luck on making it happen :-)
